First Ever Pickleball Game Played on Bois Blanc Island, MI!
Active USA Pickleball Association Members Mike and Alys McCalmont, of Cincinnati, are growing pickleball at their summer resort near Cheboygan on the Mackinaw straits.
Mike and Alys learned to play pickleball last summer on vacation at a cottage community near Cheboygan. Many of the cottage owners spend their winters at The Villages in Florida – a hotbed for pickleball. Mike and Alys were allowed to paint a regulation court on one of the three tennis courts there, so they have a great place to play.
"We loved the game so much that we've built a group at home here in Cincinnati – we now have about 20 regular players who meet indoors every Saturday from November – April and we just painted our own court at a local park-run rec center for outdoor play from May – October (we set up a portable net I designed on a patio space donated to us by the park district). There's also a large contingency of players in Northern Kentucky just across the Ohio River!" Mike McClamont
Bois Blanc Island is the large island just east of Mackinaw Island. Alys McClamont's family has a 1907 cottage on the Island. Click the link below, to enjoy Mike's Flip Video of the first ever pickleball game played on Bois Blanc Island, MI!
