RPC Player Announcement: Men's Doubles Age Divisions 8-26-2010

Rochester Pickleball Club Tournament & Festival
Men's Doubles Age Divisions
Thursday, August 26, 2010

LOCATION (REMEMBER IT WAS CHANGED): Royal Oak has come to our rescue and letting us have this tournament on the recently opening Pickleball courts there. They are not tennis courts with additional tape applied for lines !!!! An outdoor first for many of us.

Whittier Park in Royal Oak. If you want to MapQuest or GPS it try using the address 720 E. Farnum, Royal Oak, MI 48068.

ARRIVAL: Please arrive by 4:30 to check in and sign a new waiver for Royal Oak (the other one was for a tournament being held in Rochester.)

BRING: Bring water and a snack if you need them.

The Royal Oak Pickleball group will be serving hot dog/chips/drink for a donation of $3 (or more accepted) to raise money for these beautiful courts.

There will be a port-a-potty available.

FORMAT: I am still trying to sort out the registrations for Thursday night getting everyone into the correct groups.

At the moment we have
MD 19+ two teams

MD 50+ three teams

MD 55+ two teams

MD 60+ six teams

MD 65+ three teams

MD 70+ one team

Unless I have some ages wrong, we will do the following:

Combine 19+, 50+, 55+ into a Round Robin pool of 7 teams. You would play each of the other six teams in one game to 11 win by 2. You would play six matches during the seven time slots which means almost constant play.

MD 60+ will be Round Robin pool of 6 teams. You will play each of the other five teams in one game to 15 win by 2. You would play five matches during the six time slots which means almost constant play.

MD 65+ combined with 70+ will be a Round Robin pool of 4 teams. Each team will have three matches. Each match will be best 2 our of 3 games to 11 win by 2. You will receive 1 point for each game you win. If you win 2/2 in a match you get a bonus point. Each team is guaranteed to play 6 games (at least 2 games in each of the 3 matches). Matches will follow one after the other. You will NOT have a time when teams in your age group are playing and you have a bye. Don't worry -- we will give a break between matches.

Medals are awarded after Round Robin play based on the following -- in this order:

-- Most points received for winning games

-- head-to-head winner in case of tie

-- point differential in case there is still a tie

-- if still two teams tied they will play one game to 11 win by ONE

-- if somehow there are 4 teams tied at the end of Round Robin play there will be a 4 team single elimination bracket drawn up by the Tournament Director to decide placement.

This could be clear as mud to most of you ... but I understand it and will be happy to explain it face-to-face as needed.
